What equipment and hardware is required to work for James Virtual Alliance?
PC Requirements:
• Desktop/tower computer with a separate monitor is recommended. Windows 10.
• Dual boot machines, netbooks, and tablets are prohibited from use.
• All-in-one computers are not currently compatible with any client programs.
• Dual monitors may be required on some client programs
• Depending on what client program an agent chooses to service, the use of the Arise Secure Desktop (ASD) may be required.
• MAC requirements:
• Macs must have an Ethernet port MacBook Air and Mac USB-C ports will not be supported Boot Camp and a licensed version of Windows.
• MAC OS X 10.10 Yosemite or higher
• Dual monitors may be required on some client programs.
Computer Hardware Requirements:
• Processor – Minimum: 1.4 GHz/Recommended: Dual Core 1.6 GHz
• RAM – Minimum: 2 GB/Recommended: 4 GB RAM
• Hard Drive – Minimum: 80 GB/Recommended: 250 GB with at least 15GB of free space
• CD-ROM: 48X Speed CD-ROM R/W R/W DVD or a 3 1/2
• Sound Card and Speakers: 32-bit sound card and a pair of desktop speakers
• USB 2.0 o VOIP Headset
• Wired Keyboard and Mouse
• UPS Battery Backup
• Monitor: 19-inch or larger monitor recommended
Other Requirements:
• High-speed broadband internet providers such as cable or DSL.
• Dedicated landline telephone that is only to service your application. No one else should have this phone number. This line MUST be a standard POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) phone line.
What are the characteristics of a successful agent?
Agents must have a strong working knowledge of computers including the following list:
- Being able to use a mouse and computer keyboard
- Being able to shut down and turn on the computer properly
- Understanding how to navigate the computer's files and desktop environment
- Knowing how to Create, Name, Save and Delete a folder
- Functional knowledge of programs including how to launch and close a computer program
- Understanding how to use e-mail including sending and opening email
- Knowing how to use the Internet including navigating to a site and using search engines like Google
- Ability to navigate through multiple screens

• Professional and capable of providing a high level of service
• Positive and optimistic
• Punctual, dependable, and honors all-time commitments
What is the admissions process like?
1. Set up a profile
2. Take a brief voice assessment*
3. Complete a background check*
4. Certify as a Client Support Professional (CSP 101). Prior to servicing a client program, you will need to take a certification course that provides information about the client’s systems, the program, the quality requirements, and other information. This ensures that you’ll be up to speed, prepared, and confident to serve. In most cases, the cost of the certification class can be recovered in less than 40 hours of servicing.
How do I set up my home office?
1. A computer (Windows Vista is not currently supported)
2. High-speed internet
3. A no-frills landline/POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) with a corded phone
4. A telephone headset with keypad
5. A VOIP headset for certification courses
